Merry Christmas, hikers! I hope you are having a wonderful holiday together! Thank you for all your nice comments this year on the list of Hawaii hikes. We miss Hawaii but this place has its own rustic beauty. The light here is always interesting because the angle of the sun changes so much during the year and the AMOUNT of light is so different in winter compared to summer! Today was sunny though 🙂

We went on our annual elf hike yesterday with two other families. I dress up like an elf, which means i grab white and red striped tights and layer up with anything in my closet that is white, green or red. You never know what it is going to look like, and the outcome once caused a beagle to howl at the trailhead! Yesterday two other intrepid parents grabbed red and white stripes, too! I will post a picture when I have one handy. The kids hiked/ran 4 1/4 miles yesterday, and finished off the outing with frozen yogurt. We all wanted pizza but the local cafe at the end of the hike closed its kitchen at 2pm – we just missed it! Next year I will make a mental note to start earlier 🙂

Happy 2014 to each of you!
